Julius Bergh Computing is a company of 7 programmers/designers/all-rounders. We need a person in the area of user support and network administration so strong technical skills are as important as inter-personal skills. This is not a programming position but programming skills as well as knowledge of SQL, Linux, PHP, HTML and Java Script etc. will be an advantage.


You will be providing phone support as well as travelling to remote sites to assist a user community of about 400 people. They need help in areas of basic PC use such as word processing, spreadsheets, email, network (LAN, WAN, Internet etc) as well as using specific applications and databases. You will help people with faxes, photocopiers, printers as well as PABX systems. You will need to replace disk drives, ghost them as well as doing basic PC and laptop maintenance, deploy and monitor virus protection, monitor, filter and report Internet usage.

You will be responsible for backing up servers as well as administrative tasks such as daily electronic banking and physical access control to the building via swipe cards and computer controlled doors. You will keep an inventory of IT equipment.

Neither age, gender nor ethnicity are barriers. You need to be fluent in English. People must be able to understand you but it does not matter if you speak with an accent. Keep in mind that this is a relatively junior position ideal for someone just starting out in IT who recently completed a diploma or degree and probaly not suitable for someone with a Masters degree or many years experience in senior IT positions.

The office is in Milton, Brisbane within easy access to public transport.

We do not require a long list of previous experience in very specific areas. The following are essential:
  • A keen intellect - you don't need to be brilliant but you need to be bright.
  • A passion for all things IT. We need all-rounders. Users will ask you questions about anything from digital cameras to power point presentations and data projectors. You will need to be the kind, friendly and patient person who will help them whether they are in the next building or on the other side of the phone on the other side of Australia.
  • You have completed a tertiary qualification in IT - a Degree or Diploma.
  • You don't have to have a car but you must have a drivers licence and a safe driving record.
  • Australian citizen or permanent residency.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
