Witches Falls, Mt Tambourine
All of the following pictures were taken on Sunday 29th May 2011. Oom Jan Mostert and I went for a bush walk close to home. Mt Tambourine is just less than half an hour drive from Nerang and offers a dense rain forest experience at a number of places. We did the Witches Falls walk, a circular walk of just over 3 km. The falls can hardly be described as spectacular. It is more like someone left the garden hose running over a cliff but the surrounding rain forest is spectacular.
This is the view from Mt Tambourine looking down towards Canungra, Biddiddaba and Beaudesert.

You drive to the top and walk down the cliffs.

Palm trees in abundance

Moss on the rocks.

The roots embraced the rock. The rock can't escape!

This is the little stream that feeds the Witches Falls. It's a small treacle and the falls is mostly hidden in the bush so I didn't get a photo of it.

With a mighty roar, Oom Jan pushed this tree over, roots and all.

Of all the trees we encountered, this Morton Bay Fig impressed us most. It grows high so it needs a thorough grounding which is difficult to do on a rock cliff with little deep soil so it anchors itself sideways with these buttresses.

The map indicated a "Lagoon" which I scoffed. It turned out to be this interesting swamp clearing in the otherwise densely treed bush. Those aren't snakes - just dead Lianas vines.

Palms and a Fig tree.

That's all folks.
